Last night, following a routine traffic stop in Long Beach, officers made an arrest after finding a firearm in the vehicle. According to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), the incident occurred around 7:58 p.m. at the corner of Pacific Avenue and Anaheim Street. The individual arrested was a prohibited possessor, possessing a firearm which violates the law.
Earlier in the evening, a separate incident in an unknown area of the Los Angeles Riverbed left a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the lower body. The victim had self-transported to a local hospital where the police were notified of the shooting at about 5:49 p.m., as reported by the LBPD. Despite their efforts, LBPD officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the crime scene. The investigation, searching for both suspect information and a motive, is still underway.
The department praised its officers for the firearm retrieval, highlighting the importance of such interventions in their ongoing efforts to combat gun violence in the area. The LBPD did not release the name of the arrested individual. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with several questions remaining unanswered.
