Folsom City Council has made a decisive move in selecting Dan Haverty as the interim city manager, stepping in from December 14, as per the official announcement. Haverty, with an extensive portfolio featuring over three decades in public service, has a history of leadership across various fire departments including a stint as Folsom's own fire chief. The city aims to maintain its standards of excellence during this transitional phase, and Haverty's appointment seems to be the council's bid to ensure just that.
According to the City of Folsom's announcement, recruitment for a permanent city manager is actively ongoing. Haverty is to quickly assume the interim role following Elaine Andersen's retirement. Andersen, who announced her intent to retire earlier this year, will be closing nearly two decades of service to the City of Folsom. In terms of academic credentials, Haverty holds both a master's and doctorate in public administration, qualifications that the city council believes will enable him to effectively bridge the gap between the past and an unwritten future.
Mayor Mike Kozlowski, expressing confidence in the interim appointee, said on the City of Folsom, "With more than 30 years of public service experience, including 17 years of leadership within the Folsom community, Dan is uniquely qualified to lead the City of Folsom during this period of transition." Kozlowski's statement underscores the council’s belief in Haverty's capabilities to fulfill the city's high expectations for its leadership.
Haverty himself has pledged to uphold the city’s standards, telling the City of Folsom, “It is an honor to return to the City of Folsom and serve its residents, businesses, visitors, and the city team.” His promise is to provide stability and steady leadership, as the community continues to look forward to upholding the quality service synonymous with Folsom's name.
