The Town of Fountain Hills has unveiled a new shade structure and renovated Centennial Pavilion, providing residents with a venue for events and celebrations. The official opening included a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The updated pavilion features an 80-foot artistic shade structure with no central pole, ensuring unobstructed access. It is located near the community center, library, and the upcoming International Dark Sky Discovery Center, according to the Town of Fountain Hills.
Kevin Snipes, the Community Services Director for the Town of Fountain Hills, stated, "This is one of the coolest structures." The new shade structure adds both aesthetic and functional value to the Centennial Pavilion, designed to accommodate various gatherings, from casual meetups to weddings with music.
The renovation includes the Arizona State Donor Puzzle, an art piece made of galvanized and stainless steel that represents community contribution. Kevin Snipes stated, "I just think it’s awesome to watch the puzzle pieces go in." People can purchase a puzzle piece for $1,000, allowing for a dedication of up to 30 characters. Funds raised will support the maintenance of the shade structure and the Centennial Pavilion. The Donor Puzzle will remain as long as the shade structure exists. Those interested in reserving the event space should contact Recreation Manager Ryan Preston at [email protected], as stated by the Town of Fountain Hills.
