Memphis Police have apprehended four individuals alleged to have been involved in a burglary at an Orange Mound Family Dollar store. Earlier today, officers responded to a call indicating possible illicit activities at the discount retail location on Lamar Avenue.
The police arrival quickly escalated into a movie-like chase encountering a juvenile dashing from the scene and situating herself within a vehicle whilst a man was witnessed emerging from the rear of the establishment, this all unraveling around 12:40 a.m., as cited in reports from Action News 5; the responding officer pursued the male suspect through a break in the structure and back inside where he, alongside a female accomplice, attempted to remain undetected amongst the aisles of discounted goods and staples.
The Memphis Police Department's official social media presence provided additional details, revealing that an officer deployed a taser while subduing the male suspect and two women who subsequently ambushed him from behind, resulting in their apprehension, as detailed in a Facebook post from the department.
Following up with more officers turning up, the team managed to uncover another suspect within the dimly lit commercial confines, and each individual was charged with Burglary of a Business – Kaya Franklin, 20, Naima Anderson, 19, Darryell Williams, 19, and Jerome Reid, 37, their alleged acts of desperation or defiance culminating in the familiar clang of handcuffs being secured around wrists as listed in all three reporting sources. The juvenile initially seen fleeing, was not implicated in the burglary, as per the department's statement, and was later released into the care of a guardian.
