From Hospitality to Holiness: Monroeville's Former DoubleTree Hotel Transformed into Grace Life Church VenueSource: Google Street View

In a notable shift for a property previously part of the hospitality sector, the former DoubleTree Hotel in Monroeville will now become a space for religious gatherings. WPXI reported that Grace Life Church sealed the deal to acquire the property under the real estate company Two Trees Global LLC. The church pastors, Buck and Amy Schafer, shared with their congregation through an Instagram post that they hold the keys to what they've dubbed the "latter house project." Providing spiritual services in a location that once catered to travelers, the church's move is set to "elevate the kingdom."

While Two Trees Global is handling the property ownership, Grace Life Church is looking to raise $1.4 million for the project, having collected $820,000 thus far. Additional funding avenues are planned, with the church partnering with a company to operate most of the hotel's upper levels and continue its function as a lodging facility. This dual-purpose approach, allowing continued use of the space as a hotel, aims to lessen the financial burden, according to WPXI.

Shifting the focus to the real estate aspect, the sale was finalized last Friday, but the property's sale price, previously owned by 101 Mall Boulevard Owner LLC, remains undisclosed. According to TribLIVE, the recent update in online Allegheny County property records does not reflect the new ownership details.

Moving past its footprint in Monroeville, the Grace Life Church plans to transform the hotel ballroom into its primary worship area while situating its offices on the second floor. Pastor Butch Schafer, having led the church's congregation for nearly three decades, conveyed the necessity of more space due to the increasing membership, which numbers around 3,500. The venue, conveniently located in front of Monroeville Mall, offers ample parking to accommodate the growth, TribLIVE reported. Meanwhile, the principal of Two Trees Global, identified only as a church member, maintains a veil of anonymity, with the Pennsylvania Department of State revealing little about the LLC's officers.
