The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) continues to piece together the events surrounding the death of Devin Jeter, a 25-year-old man from Scottsdale, GA, whose body was found in the Ocmulgee River near Lumber City, GA. According to a recent update by GBI, yesterday, the Georgia State Patrol dive team located Jeter's rented Jeep Compass in the river, not far from where his body was discovered.
The vehicle, a 2024 silver Jeep Compass with Florida license plate EWAG47, was initially unaccounted for following Jeter's disappearance. The Jeep was recovered without any visible signs of damage, GBI has stated. The authorities are still calling for the public’s help, anyone with information about Jeter’s movements or the Jeep Compass between Atlanta and Lumber City is urged to reach out. Contact can be made to the GBI regional investigative office in Eastman at 478-374-6988, or tips can be submitted anonymously through various channels including the GBI's tip line at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477) and the “See Something, Send Something” mobile app.
Jeter, who served in the U.S. Navy and was based in Jacksonville, FL, was last seen at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport on the evening of November 7. He was reported missing by his family three days later, after failing to report for military duty. An autopsy has been performed, and while no apparent injuries were noted, forensic tests are pending, which investigators hope will shed light on the cause and circumstances of his death, as reported by GBI.
Details about Jeter's case continue to emerge slowly, and authorities seem to be at an impasse, awaiting new evidence or leads. Meanwhile, the GBI emphasizes that any information could be crucial, no matter how seemingly insignificant; and the public’s assistance is invaluable in piecing together the final days of Jeter’s life.
