The Gilbert Police Department has recently taken a proactive step towards fostering a stronger bond between law enforcement and youth in the community by introducing Officer Emily King as their first Youth Community Engagement Officer. As reported by Gilbert, AZ, this initiative, launched in the summer of 2024, is geared towards enhancing interactions and constructive engagement between the local police force and the younger residents of Gilbert.
King, who has graduated from Gilbert’s Regional Police Academy and served as a Police Cadet Advisor, was appointed to this new position in August. Having already started in her role, she is now in the process of researching effective methods for youth engagement across different communities. Established to conduct regular assessments, it is King's responsibility to review the Calls for Service relating to youth, something she will be doing in conjunction with the local patrol officers and counselors, according to Gilbert, AZ.
In their latest media release, the Gilbert Police Department shared insights into Officer King's vision and objectives. "Through these initiatives, Officer King aims to empower our youth to become active and informed members of their community," Gilbert, AZ stated. The public can gather more information about Officer King’s role and the department's youth engagement efforts through a video shared on the Gilbert Police Department's website, thus providing a personable introduction to the officer at the helm of this new venture.
