Gilbert is full of holiday events this season, offering fun for everyone, including pets. According to an announcement on Gilbert's official website, the town has a lineup of activities planned to celebrate this joyous time of year, from charitable drives to delightful encounters with Santa Claus.
Leading the charge is the Gilbert Police Department with their Blue Line Holiday Drive taking place from last Wednesday, November 20 to December 18. They're collecting donations for local families in need. Similarly, the Gilbert Fire & Rescue Department is inviting community members for a Ride on a Fire Truck and Photos with Santa on December 7. "Bring a new, unwrapped toy or gift card to donate at the holiday drive and enjoy a ride on a Gilbert Fire truck," the town's website suggests, extending a helping hand to those who could use a boost in festive spirits.
Not to be left out, pets have their moment with Santa Paws Pictures on December 7, where families can document this year's holiday with both two-legged and four-legged members. Fast forward a few days, and Santa will be seen again gracing the Gilbert Police Department on December 10 for a photo op, this time in exchange for donations that will assist Gilbert families.
The McQueen Park Activity Center will host the Jingle Bell Express, characterized by storytelling, crafts, and "a 'special visitor'" anticipated by children with eagerness on December 13. The same evening marks the beginning of the Riparian After Dark event, which promises to come alive with a holiday glow. Thousands of lights and displays will beckon visitors until December 22, through the serene trails of the Riparian Preserve.
Further engaging the youth, December 14 sees a Santa Workshop for kids 5-12 at the Southeast Regional Library where creativity will soar in building holiday toys and design sleighs. On the same day, dog owners can fashion paw print ornaments with their companions at Paws in the Preserve. The town will then turn its attention to the illumination of the Water Tower Plaza on December 16, which marks its grand reopening after renovations with plenty of kid-friendly activities. To cap off the year, the Freestone Recreation Center is throwing a Noon Year's Eve Party on December 28, a midday celebration with games, prizes, and a family-friendly "Ball-OON Drop" as per the Town of Gilbert's official announcement.
