As winter approaches, the City of Grand Prairie is calling on its community to support local students in need of warm clothing. There's a push to gather 100 new coats for kids ranging from kindergarten to high school, and the effort runs 'til the end of the year.
The initiative is a partnership with GPISD and Kids Inc., organizations dedicated to aiding the youth in their pursuit of education without the burden of the cold. While all sizes are welcome, the most pressing demand is for coats that will fit high school students, and the organizers have specified a preference for coats without hoods, according to the City of Grand Prairie.
For those able to contribute, new coats can be dropped off at several locations across the city, including City Hall Central at 300 W. Main St., Main Library at 901 Conover Dr., and the Warmack Library at 760 Bardin Rd. And for the ultimate convenience, if physically delivering a coat is a constraint, there's an option to reach out via email to [email protected] for pick-up arrangements.
