Hillsborough County students are in for an efficient start to their holiday season as the Tax Collector’s Office gears up to host another "Student Saturday" event. Scheduled for tomorrow, at the East Tampa office on 2814 E. Hillsborough Ave., this initiative promotes convenience for students seeking to acquire their driver licenses without skipping school or work.
Known for its commendable feedback, "Student Saturday" has become a staple for local high school and college students. “Our Student Saturday events continue to receive incredible feedback from parents and teens alike. These events reflect our commitment to providing accessible, convenient services that meet the needs of our community,” Hillsborough County Tax Collector Nancy C. Millan told Hillstax.org. Parents have noticeably welcomed the event's student-centric approach. Renee Nelson, expressing her gratitude, stated, “This made life so much easier not having to take time off work or school for our teen to get their permit. It was fast and fun. The entire staff was upbeat. They pushed the teens to advocate for themselves and had the parents take a ‘backseat’ as the child navigated the process. Super impressed!”
The event offers opportunities for eligible students, requiring a valid student ID, to take written or driving skills tests. The East Tampa office is prepped for tomorrow appointments, which are available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Owing to the popularity of "Student Saturday," potential participants are urged to secure their slots early by pre-registering.
For those interested in attending, details on eligibility requirements and the online appointment booking process can be found on the Tax Collector’s Office website. Additional assistance is accessible via a call to 813-347-4386. Beyond weekend events, the Tax Collector’s Office handles significant duties including the collection and distribution of various local taxes. It also serves as an agent for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, provides a myriad of licenses, and partners with state and local agencies to offer extra services—it's a hub for empowering the community through accessible and innovative solutions.
