Houstonians are monitoring temperatures as an unusual heatwave could tie a decades-old record for late November warmth. According to the National Weather Service, today's afternoon temperature is forecast to reach 86°F, which would match the record set in 1967. However, a cold front is expected to arrive the same evening, bringing a sudden change in conditions.
The National Weather Service reports that the front will bring mostly sunny skies and a high near 70°F on Tuesday, with north winds at 5 to 10 mph. This will be followed by cooler temperatures for the Thanksgiving holiday. The forecast for Thanksgiving Day calls for mostly sunny conditions, with a high around 68°F.
As the week progresses, Houston will see a gradual shift to cooler temperatures. Wednesday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 62°F, meaning daytime warmth will give way to cooler evening conditions. A cold front is expected to arrive on Thanksgiving Day, which, according to Click2Houston, will bring "a significant drop in temperatures for Black Friday and the weekend." Meanwhile, the likelihood of rain remains a low 20%, ensuring most will stay dry.
Those heading out for Black Friday deals should prepare for cooler temperatures, as forecasters predict a chilly start to the holiday shopping season. Temperatures will drop Friday, marking a cooler beginning to the weekend.
