
A woman was found dead last night in north Houston, leading to a police investigation and her husband being taken into custody. According to FOX 26 Houston, the fatal incident occurred on the 5200 block of Airline Drive. The Houston Police Department responded to a "person down/assault call," arriving to discover the woman deceased at the scene, her identity withheld pending family notification.
The husband of the victim was detained by police after surrendering peacefully to authorities while standing on a blood-covered balcony. Family members indicated to the police that there was a history of domestic violence in the household. Officials have yet to release the name of the man involved in the assualt. With the Thanksgiving holiday as a backdrop, an HPD spokesperson stressed the importance of individuals in abusive relationships seeking help, stating, "I do want to encourage everybody right now during this this holiday season, especially around Thanksgiving, if you're in a situation that is a domestic violence situation, please reach out to someone," in a statement obtained by FOX 26 Houston.
As reported by KHOU, the woman was found with injuries consistent with blunt trauma to the head, her demise the consequence of a dispute with a man, who has been detained by the police. The investigative team at the scene identified signs of struggle within the room.
