A 15-year-old student from Bearden High School faces serious charges after making a verbal threat to carry out mass violence, as per Knoxville Police Department officials.
The department started investigating the case on Monday, November 4, after they received a tip at about 7:30 p.m., and detectives, through their probe that went late into the night, determined the juvenile had indeed made a threat against his school and quick collaboration with the Knox County District Attorney's Office ensued, leading to the necessary steps to address the situation.
Further investigation, which also involved Tennessee Homeland Security agents and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, led to the young student's apprehension at his residence in West Knoxville the young student was apprehended at his residence in West Knoxville following an intense investigation by multiple agencies they also coordinated with the Knox County District Attorney's Office, agents from Tennessee Homeland Security and assistance from the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
According to the official press release from the Knoxville Police Department, the student was taken into custody and charged with the threat of mass violence, this charge underscores the severity of the situation and reflects an increasing concern about safeguarding educational institutions from potential dangers.
