Las Cruces movie buffs and families, mark your calendars. The Las Cruces Public Libraries has lined up a treat just in time for the holidays, a cozy, animated movie marathon featuring family-centric films that promise to charm viewers of all ages. The event, free of charge to the public, is slated for Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library. It's not just a chance to relax and enjoy some heartwarming flicks, it's also a way to bring the community together, sharing smiles and popcorn as the year winds down.
According to the City of Las Cruces, the day kicks off at 11 a.m. in the library’s Kiva Room, comfortably nestled at 200 E. Picacho Ave, and even conveniently accessible via Roadrunner Transit route 1. The inaugural film, a 2002 classic revolving around an adorable alien finding his place and understanding the meaning of family in Hawaii, will surely entice nostalgia and new fans alike. Movie marathoners can also expect to quickly jump to more contemporary tales, with a 2019 movie to follow at 12:30 p.m. about an ensemble of buddies who unite to help a yeti find his way back home. The final stretch will feature a 2022 adventure at 2:30 p.m. highlighting an intrepid family of explorers, rounding out a day sure to fully capture the spirit of familial love and bonding. Each of these films is thoughtfully rated PG to ensure a comfortable environment for all attendees.
While the library encourages movie-goers to bring light snacks to munch on during the screenings, they also kindly remind everyone to check out the library’s online calendar for specific movie titles. Details may be a click away, but the experience is one to be lived in person. The event not only gives families a cost-free entertainment option but also showcases the library's continued dedication to serving as a cultural hub within the Las Cruces community.
