A grim discovery was made in east Las Vegas as police found the body of a missing woman in a freezer. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is currently actively working to unravel the mysterious circumstances surrounding her death. According to a report by News 3 LV, the incident took place near Vegas Valley Drive and Nellis Boulevard, where officers responded to a welfare check for a 68-year-old woman not seen since late October.
The initial investigation began just before noon yesterday after a caller expressed concern over the woman's sudden disappearance, noting both her absence and suspicious activity at her residence. When law enforcement arrived on the scene, no one answered the door. They then decided to enter the home in search of the missing woman, where they encountered two individuals whose behavior was described as suspicious. The individuals claimed to have no knowledge of the woman's whereabouts.
During the search of the mobile home, officers uncovered a locked chest freezer. A locksmith was called to gain access, and upon opening, they found the remains of a woman. "Metro said they found the remains of the missing woman," as reported by Fox5 Vegas. The LVMPD has taken the two individuals found in the home into custody and is treating the death as suspicious, awaiting further details on the cause and manner of death, which are under the jurisdiction of the Clark County Coroner's investigation.
The LVMPD Homicide detectives have now taken over the case, not yet officially ruled a homicide but being closely scrutinized as such. As per the News 3 LV reports, the deceased was known to walk her dog regularly in the neighborhood, a detail that paints a fragment of her daily life now eclipsed by tragedy. Lt. Johansson of the LVMPD stated that the incident "doesn't appear to be random." In efforts to collect more evidence, police are seeking any video or witnesses within the mobile home park. Additional assistance came from a neighbor and Animal Control, who have taken care of the animals found at the scene.
