In a courtroom incident that has sparked additional controversy, Alejandra Boudreaux, the suspect linked to a deadly Las Vegas police shooting, now faces a charge of open and gross lewdness after exposing herself before a court hearing. As reported by News 3 Las Vegas, Boudreaux, 31, was scheduled to appear in court for a lewdness charge connected to her actions in a courtroom on Monday.
Despite having failed to appear twice last week, Boudreaux was present in court where she first mimed an apology to the camera and subsequently exposed her breast, resulting in her removal by a marshall and the new charge being filed. Her bail has been set at $1 million on charges including disregarding the safety of a person resulting in death and home invasion, according to details shared by 8 News Now. Boudreaux, who identifies as a transgender woman and has a criminal history in Florida, is expected back in court on Dec. 16 for the home invasion charges.
The earlier incident involving Boudreaux led to the police shooting death of Brandon Durham, 43, who had reported a home invasion near Sunset Park. It has come to light through an arrest report that Durham and Boudreaux may have had a sexual relationship, which complicates the narrative of the altercation. During the 911 call, Durham, in visible distress, told the dispatcher, "They're going to kill everybody. Hurry the [expletive] up." Officers responding to the scene found Durham and Boudreaux struggling over a knife which culminated in Durham being shot multiple times by Officer Alexander Bookman, as described by News 3 Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas community is demanding justice and transparency in the investigation into a police shooting, accusing Metro police of misleading the public. According to Hoodline, Civil rights attorney Lee Merritt and the family of the person shot, Durham, are calling for charges against Officer Bookman, saying the officer used force on Durham, who was in need of help. District Attorney Steve Wolfson has stated that the investigation is still early, and it’s too soon to decide if charges will be filed. Officer Bookman is on routine administrative leave while the Metro Police Department's investigation focuses on use-of-force policies and tactics.
