Citizens of Lewisville, get ready for a shake-up in your trash routine. Starting February next year, a significant change is coming to your curbside waste management. According to a recent report by the City of Lewisville, the merge of two existing trash collection contracts will affect schedules and service providers for numerous residents—the most noteworthy switch happening in the Castle Hills neighborhoods.
To streamline operations and make billing more consistent the city's residential solid waste and recycling collection services, which were split between Republic Services and Community Waste Disposal (CWD), will consolidate under the Republic banner once CWD's contract runs its course at the end of January, it was a change dictated by necessity, an ushering in of balance, and a proposed decrease in wear and tear on public roads and alleys, this shift is also expected to enhance the punctuality of waste removal services for locals.
With this transition, Castle Hills residents can not only anticipate a changeover from dual to a single weekly trash pick-up but can also expect to see up to $11 slashed from their monthly base bill. As the city's contract with Republic includes a cap on annual service charge increases—a condition absent in CWD's contract—this spells better financial predictability for homeowners.
New Republic-branded bins will be distributed to residents, but don't think about using your old CWD bins for trash; Republic has made it clear that they won't collect refuse placed in the competitor's carts, and for anyone wanting to discard their former CWD-branded bins, Republic will accommodate them during bulk collection pick-ups, the recycle carts however, they're not yours to hold onto as Republic will claim them as well.
