Livermore officers noticed a white Honda CRV making a hasty exit from the vicinity. The car's excessively dark tinted windows, a blatant violation of the law, caught their attention. A quick records check led the police to discover that the vehicle was registered to an owner living in San Francisco. During the traffic stop, officers saw many toothpaste boxes on the vehicle's floorboard and tote bags that seemed to be packed full.
The officers detained the apprehended suspects, Anita Lopez and Trevon Williams, both 20, and Marahco Marshall, 22, of San Francisco. During the stop, they confessed to the theft at Lucky's, which included a variety of everyday items intended for resale. They also admitted to an earlier heist at Safeway on First Street.
Lucky’s employees took to scanning and tallying the shoplifted goods, revealing a staggering 707 items valued at over $8,500. The Safeway store calculated their losses at over $480 for 34 items. All items were returned to the retailers.
All three were charged by the Livermore Police with organized retail theft, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
