In Long Beach, police were called to a scene of violence on East Ocean Boulevard, where two separate gun-related incidents disrupted the usually peaceful area. According to a report by the Long Beach Police Department, at approximately 1:54 a.m. on November 24, officers found a male victim with gunshot wounds. He was swiftly transported by Long Beach Fire Department personnel to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Shortly after, in a distressing discovery made nearby, a second man was found inflicted with a fatal gunshot wound. Despite the life-saving efforts performed by officers at the scene, the victim was declared deceased by the responding medical crew. "Homicide detectives are investigating this incident and news release is forthcoming," the official report from LBPD stated.
The Long Beach Police also showcased their enforcement efforts as they detailed the removal of weapons from the public domain. Two firearms were seized in separate incidents just before the murder on November 23. Officers engaged a burglary suspect on Obispo Avenue and arrested him, recovering a firearm in the process. Similarly, following a stolen vehicle report on Daisy Avenue, which escalated into an armed carjacking, police chased down the vehicle and arrested one suspect, while other occupants escaped, as per the LBPD. A firearm was also retrieved during this arrest.
Emphasizing the danger that officers regularly face, the LBPD's announcement highlighted, "Great work officers! Last night, officers safely took two guns off the streets." Both investigations about the firearm recoveries are still ongoing.
