A New Hampshire mother is facing serious charges following a car collision this week. Shannon Lurvey, 37, was arrested and charged with aggravated DUI after the crash in Manchester, which involved her twin 11-month-old babies. According to NBC Boston, the incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Monday on Boynton Street. Reports indicate that when the authorities arrived, Lurvey seemed agitated and did not cooperate with the officers.
Manchester police described a scene with a heavily damaged Hyundai Elantra, driven by Lurvey, and a minimally damaged Honda Pilot. EMTs on site reported that the infants were not properly secured in their seats, prompting further concern for the children's well-being. Lurvey was perceived to be intoxicated, the police said, and she actively struggled when they attempted to place her under arrest.
Lurvey is now charged with several offenses, including aggravated driving under the influence with a passenger under 16, endangering the welfare of a child, and resisting arrest. The Boston Globe reports that the mother's twins were taken to a local hospital for observation before being released to the care of a relative. The driver of the Honda Pilot involved in the crash was not injured in the collision.
