Guadalupe is set to see a significant community uplift with the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors green-lighting a $452,000 renovation of a major parking lot. According to Maricopa County, this parking lot serves as a nexus for key facilities like the town hall, a college branch, the local library, and a popular mercado. Supervisor Steve Gallardo emphasized the scope of this project when he said, “This investment strengthens the heart of the community, helps to connect neighbors, support education, and celebrate local culture.”
Voted earlier today, the funding is part of the Community Solutions pot aimed at boosting strategic goals and providing public benefits. Supervisor Gallardo, representing District 5, was the one who allocated the significant sum. Describing the project, Town Manager Jeff Kulaga told Maricopa County, "It’s not just about parking – it's about investing in the shared spaces that bring us together and make communities a stronger, more connected place to live." The project will address the material needs such as resurfacing and restriping, but also set sights on compliance upgrades like retrofitting sidewalk ramps for ADA access.
According to Maricopa County, the county budget annually allocates each supervisor a portion of Community Solutions Funding to reinforce Maricopa County's broader strategic objectives.
