As Maricopa County prepares for Election Day, officials are confident in their ability to handle the expected voter turnout. "We understand that over the last four years, the eyes of the world have been on Maricopa County," said Maricopa County Supervisor Bill Gates. The County Recorder's office is expecting 2.1 million voters and has plans in place to ensure ballots are processed quickly and accurately while meeting legal requirements, as reporeted by FOX 10.
At the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center, bipartisan teams are working to count ballots, but County Recorder Stephen Richer warned that results may take up to two weeks due to the detailed process. About 1.4 million ballot packets have been verified, out of the approximately 2.6 million registered voters, as per AZFamily.
Maricopa County is focused on security for Election Day, with Sheriff Russ Skinner enforcing a zero-tolerance policy for threats or intimidation at polling places. Polls will close at 7 p.m., but anyone in line by that time will still be allowed to vote. Initial results at 8 p.m. will include early ballots, with further updates throughout the evening reflecting in-person votes. County Recorder Stephen Richer explained that some candidates or measures leading initially may change as more votes are counted, as mentioned by AZFamily.
