
A house explosion in West Knox County left a debris field and no injuries, according to reports from multiple fire agencies.
Rural Metro has been on the scene after responding to a reported explosion in the 1700 block of Blue Water Way in the Choto area off of Northshore Drive, the large home, approximately 10,000 square feet in size, was not occupied at the time of the incident, and the explosion was first reported by neighbors around 1 p.m.; officials have been tackling the blaze and expect to remain on site, treating the incident with an estimated 15,000 gallons of water and preventing the spread of fire to nearby wooded areas, as WATE News reported.
Captain Jeff Bagwell of Rural Metro elaborated on the extent of the explosion to WVLT News, stating that the explosion caused "a debris field 100 to 150 yards in all directions," while also confirming that neighboring houses were not at immediate risk due to the well-watered yards acting as a buffer.
With multiple emergency agencies at the scene including the Knoxville Fire Department and the Loudon County Fire Department, the public has been urged to be cautious of increased traffic in the affected area the homeowners have been notified of the catastrophe, with response teams gearing up to maintain a presence at the site overnight ensuring any flare-ups are swiftly managed, as detailed by WBIR.
