As Thanksgiving approaches, the skies in Memphis may open up with showers likely before the evening feast. The National Weather Service in Memphis has reported a 60 percent chance of rainfall tonight, mainly before 8:00 P.M., with less than a tenth of an inch of new precipitation expected.
The potential showers could cast a brief shadow on holiday preparations although the overcast conditions are set to clear up by Thanksgiving Day. Residents could expect cloudy skies initially, then gradually turning mostly sunny with a comfortable high near 50 degrees. The transition in the weather might be of note as the south wind at 10 mph will become north after midnight.
Looking forward to the weekend following the holiday, the forecast suggests a brisk but sunny Friday with a high near 45 degrees and calm winds later in the day. Those planning for shopping or leisure activities outdoors can bundle up against a cooler Friday night, with temperatures expected to dip to around 27 degrees under mostly clear skies.
Continuing the trend, Saturday will remain mostly sunny, with a high near 46 and calm winds becoming south around 5 mph in the morning. These conditions are foreseen to lead into a partly cloudy Saturday night with a low near 30, the southwest wind around 5 mph may turn north-northwest after midnight, and despite these fluctuations, it seems the weather will not stage any dramatic shifts to disturb the post-Thanksgiving calm.
The overall outlook for early next week remains pleasant and sunny, with highs in the low 40s and overnight lows in the upper 20s.
