A woman accused of opening fire on a family following a prior altercation at Oakcourt Mall has been arrested and charged, Memphis police reported. The incident, which took place last Sunday, escalated after a verbal dispute in the mall's parking lot. 38-year-old Denise Norris allegedly followed the family's vehicle, subsequently shooting at them multiple times.
Responding officers arrived at the scene at Oak Court Drive, where they found the family's black 2019 Dodge Durango, which, according to the male driver, had been struck on the driver's side fuel door. The driver also told authorities that his juvenile daughter and another woman were also in the car, as reported by WREG. Norris was later to taken into police custody and is now facing serious charges for her alleged actions.
These charges include attempted second-degree murder, reckless endangerment, and employment of a firearm, as per Action News 5. Surveillance video obtained during the investigation was instrumental in identifying the vehicle driven by Norris, a white GMC Yukon XL.
Authorities conducted a thorough investigation, gathering information from the victim and witness statements. In their effort to meticulously present a six-person photographic lineup, both the male victim and a female witness positively identified Norris as the shooter. "The victim and a witness were able to identify Norris from a six-person photographic lineup," as stated by FOX13 Memphis. Currently, Norris is being held on a $30,000 bond and is due to appear in court tomorrow.
