A Jefferson Parish judge has sentenced Crystal Coleman, 41, to seven years in prison for violating her probation. Coleman had previously pleaded guilty to charges related to an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old boy. According to court records, despite being prohibited from contacting the teen, she traveled to St. Tammany Parish in an attempt to meet him. She was later identified by the boy's father at an event, FOX 8 Live reports.
Coleman was originally arrested in August 2023 on charges of indecent behavior with juveniles and felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile. She received a seven-year sentence, which was suspended in favor of probation with the condition of no contact with the teenager. This recent incident marks her third violation of the protective order. Judge Nancy Miller, after reviewing the petition to revoke her probation, expressed regret for her earlier decision to grant leniency, NOLA details.
At the revocation hearing, Coleman's attorney argued for the continuation of probation, citing her responsibilities to her young daughter. However, Judge Miller emphasized the seriousness of the violation, stating, "She put everything on the line to go ahead and violate the protective order," as reported by FOX 8 Live. This decision follows Coleman's repeated disregard for the court's order meant to protect the minor involved in the case.
"She pleaded guilty to two charges of violating those orders and the indecent behavior charge," according to WDSU News. Her case now moves forward, marked by her failure to follow the legal conditions set after her conviction.
