
The Metropolitan Police Department has apprehended a suspect linked to a series of early morning burglaries that transpired in the Northeast, following a shooting incident that led to further investigation and subsequent charges. Officials reported that on Wednesday, at around 5:00 a.m., police were dispatched to the 4200 block of Edson Place, Northeast after receiving reports of gunfire, where they discovered an adult male with gunshot wounds who later, in connection with the burglary incidents was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, as per MPD's official website.
The shooting victim, subsequently identified as 24-year-old Robert Brandon of Northwest, was also linked by detectives to two burglaries that occurred earlier that morning; in the first security intrusion, at roughly 1:55 a.m. a bid was made to break into a business on the 3700 block of 10th Street, however the suspects unable to secure any valuables, left empty-handed, whereas the second intrusion at around 2:12 a.m. on the 3100 block of 12th Street resulted in a successful theft, with the culprits fleeing in a vehicle. Brandon faces two counts of Burglary Two in connection with these crimes, as detailed by MPD news release.
Though an arrest has been made, the investigation into the shooting and both burglaries remains active.
