A Monroe man is facing accusations of committing sexual battery at two local discount stores. Emanuel Gerardo Gomez, 28, allegedly groped female employees at both Family Dollar and Dollar General over the last weekend.

According to WBTV, an employee at the Family Dollar on East Sunset Drive reported to police on Friday that Gomez had inappropriately touched her. Arriving after the incident, police missed Gomez who had already fled the scene.

In another report by WCCB Charlotte, a similar incident occurred on Saturday at the Dollar General on West Franklin Street, where another employee told officers she was groped by a man before he left the store, which occurred less than 24 hours after the first incident.

Both stores, which are not more than two miles apart, provided security footage leading to Gomez's arrest. "Investigators say they used security camera video to identify and arrest the suspect," as per a statement obtained by WCCB Charlotte. Gomez was subsequently charged with two counts of sexual battery and resist, delay and obstruct.

QC News adds that after being booked into the Union County Detention Center, Gomez was released. The Monroe Police Department has not provided additional details about the case or the circumstances under which Gomez was released.
