A recent shooting incident in Southeast has led to the arrest of two individuals. On the morning of Monday, police were called to the scene after gunshots were reported on the 500 block of Valley Avenue. There, they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was subsequently taken to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
Following the gunfire report, Seventh District officers took swift action, apprehending two suspects in the vicinity that matched the lookout description. Recovered at the scene amidst the urgency of law enforcement's response, two firearms were in possession. Charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) are 20-year-old Darion Muhammad and a 17-year-old juvenile, both hailing from Northeast, Washington D.C.
While two arrests have been made, the situation remains fluid as an additional suspect evaded capture by fleeing in a stolen vehicle. MPD has provided a photo of the vehicle from nearby surveillance footage, pressing the public to aid in their search while simultaneously urging citizens not to engage but to notify authorities upon sighting.
The police department maintains an offer, rewarding up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in connection with the crime. "Anyone who locates this vehicle and/or who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411," as reported in the MPD statement.
