The Metropolitan Police Department is reaching out to the public for assistance in tracking down the suspects linked to a recent robbery at a Northeast D.C. business. According to a release posted on the Metropolitan Police Department website, the incident occurred in the early hours of last Thursday.
The report details that, last Thursday at about 12:21 a.m., a group of three individuals disembarked from a vehicle and proceeded to confidently enter the premises located on the 4400 block of Benning Road, Northeast. A fourth cohort is said to have waited within the car. To swiftly take cash and goods from the business, the suspects went behind the counter and removed cash from the register, adding to their haul personal items from two patrons present during the incident.
The suspects afterwards made a quick getaway, utilizing the same vehicle the fourth suspect had stationed. The Metropolitan Police Department have asked that anyone with information that could lead to the identification of these individuals should immediately contact the authorities. The statement emphasizes, "take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099," or to use the TEXT TIP LINE by sending a message to 50411.
The MPD is incentivizing people to come forward with information through the promise of a reward. "The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia," as mentioned on their official notice. With details of the robbery and the suspects still emerging, the MPD continues to actively investigate the case and hopes that public assistance will help to quickly bring the perpetrators to justice.
