The rideshare market in Texas will soon include a new service, BlackWolf, an app that offers rides with armed drivers for those seeking additional security. Kerry KingBrown, the company’s founder, noted the demand for such a service in Houston, Dallas, and Austin. According to information released by BlackWolf and obtained by MySA, the company requires its drivers to have at least four years of professional experience in security or defense-related fields.

BlackWolf's launch, planned for early 2025, will initially include a fleet ranging from 30 to 60 vehicles, a relatively modest beginning as the company aims to establish itself in the growing Texas market. BlackWolf drivers will not only provide a secure ride but also create career opportunities for veterans and former law enforcement personnel. "Our company stands apart from traditional rideshare services due to our commitment to veterans," BlackWolf stated, as they prioritize the recruitment of individuals with substantial experience in relevant fields. According to a KHOU interview, Kerry KingBrown was moved to create the platform as a response to personal stories about human trafficking, aiming to offer protection and safeguarding against such threats.

Focusing on safety and professionalism, BlackWolf will offer three service tiers to its customers: Comfort, Premium, and Armed. The Armed tier features drivers who are equipped with licensed weapons, all of whom undergo thorough background checks, providing passengers with an added level of security. However, this added security comes at a premium, with ride costs expected to be 10 to 15% higher than those of established competitors like Uber or Lyft, "Prices start at $60 for an armed driver and $50 for an unarmed driver" KingBrown explained, in a statement obtained by MySA.

KingBrown's initiative has seen a significant digital response, boasting over 300,000 app downloads, 100 million views online, and a strong following of over 1 million on social media—all achieved without traditional marketing investments. Accruing such a following indicates an undercurrent of consumer interest in the unique value proposition offered by BlackWolf. The company is now actively recruiting drivers in Texas, calling on veterans, law enforcement officers, and private security personnel to apply as detailed on BlackWolf's website under their drive tab.

The introduction of BlackWolf in Texas represents a combination of industry innovation and an increased focus on personal security. As Houston, Dallas, and Austin prepare for the rollout of this service, potential customers and job-seekers will observe how BlackWolf's blend of ride-sharing and added security operates in the competitive market.
