New Braunfels is set to initiate improvements on two major infrastructure projects approved by the New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation (NBEDC). The Corporation which oversees the city's economic development funds is targeting enhancements to the City’s quality of life, transportation, and public infrastructure. The construction efforts were set in motion following approvals earlier this year, with City Council giving the green light in May.

Starting on December 12, construction crews will tackle the Last Public Exit Improvement Project. The project, costing about $1.2 million, is anticipated to stretch over three months, weather permitting. According to a statement from the City of New Braunfels, the works by Austin Filter Systems will involve replacing the existing stairwell and adding an underwater landing, to improve the safety for Comal River users. During construction, the Last Public Exit will be closed, rerouting river traffic to the Garden Street Bridge.

Another project on the docket is the Landa Lake Dam Improvement Project set to commence in January. With a budget set at $1 million, the undertaking will focus on enhancing the dam's integrity, in line with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Dam Safety Program requirements. Dalrymple Gravel and Contracting Company is entrusted with reinforcing the dam with concrete and large stones, as well as replacing the water-controlling sluice gates from Landa Lake into the Spring Fed Pool. The project is also estimated to last around three months depending on external conditions. Public disturbance should remain low, however, concessions will be made to adjust tee box #2 at the Landa Park Golf Course during the construction phase.

The city maintains a resourceful repository of information, complete with construction updates and traffic alerts. Further details about these and other city projects, can be found by visiting the New Braunfels official Government website.
