Last Friday, Livermore Police Department officers conducted a routine traffic stop that led to the arrest of an Oakland woman. Maria Shields, 64, was pulled over just before 3:30 a.m. in North Vasco and Northfront Roads, cited for driving her black Chrysler Crossfire without a valid registration.

A statement released by the Livermore Police Department's social media page details the discovery that Shields had more to hide than expired tags. Upon checking her credentials, officers learned the driver was wanted. An outstanding warrant from the Alameda County Sheriff's Office loomed over her.

During the encounter with the police, a further search of Shields' vehicle unearthed not just the typical glove compartment fodder. Officers found what appeared to be methamphetamine, a stolen license plate, and several pieces of suspect mail and identification cards.

Shields was taken into custody on several charges, including possession of narcotics and stolen property. She was then booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
