Yesterday morning, the Oklahoma City Fire Department (OKCFD) responded to a house fire near NE 63rd St. and Coltrane Rd. in northeast Oklahoma City, as well as an incident near Northwest 63rd Street and College Avenue. Crews arriving at the northeastern site located the fire within the kitchen area, managing to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading beyond the kitchen and dinette. District Chief A. McCann, in a statement obtained by KFOR, described “The fire was contained to the kitchen and dinette area, as far as we can tell.”

In a separate event, the OKCFD was to also promptly respond to a house fire in northwest Oklahoma City. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire emanating from the back of the house, specifically originating in the kitchen. Andrew McCann told KOCO 5, "All three were able to self-evacuate prior to us arriving." Despite the rapid response, tragedy struck as one dog was unable to be saved from the fire.

All residents at both locations successfully evacuated without harm. However, one firefighter sustained minor injuries during the northeast Oklahoma City incident. Details regarding the nature of the injuries were not specified, but they were considered minor. Similarly, during the northwest Oklahoma City fire, a firefighter suffered minor injuries due to smoke inhalation and was subsequently hospitalized, according to information from News 9.

The cause of both fires remains under investigation, and officials have not yet released any information regarding potential sources or contributing factors. The OKCFD continues to search thoroughly through the aftermath of the fires to possibly to uncover what sparked such destruction.
