Body camera footage has been released by the Oklahoma City Police Department, detailing a traffic stop that escalated into a Halloween night shootout and resulting in an officer-involved shooting. According to OKC FOX, the incident began when officers attempted to pull over a vehicle around 1 a.m. on October 31, 2024, near SW 59th & May Avenue. The driver, identified as 43-year-old Timothy Foster, initiated a pursuit after fleeing from the police.
As reported by KFOR, Foster, after being pulled over for a traffic violation, initially stepped out of the car only to quickly re-enter and speed off, leaving a woman to surrender to the officers with her hands up. Court documents indicated that the woman told officers Foster did not want to "go back to jail." Foster allegedly began to openly shoot at officers during the pursuit, which in turn led one officer to immediately return fire.
As per News 9, the pursuit came to an end at Foster's residence near I-240 and Pennsylvania Avenue. Foster barricaded himself inside and continued to exchange gunfire with police, resulting in a standoff that stretched over two hours. The Oklahoma City Police Tactical Team ultimately apprehended Foster following the extensive exchange of gunfire.
"The suspect was hit. He went inside the residence. Ultimately our tactical unit responded to the scene, made entry, and took the suspect into custody," Msgt. Gary Knight of the Oklahoma City Police Department told KFOR. After being treated for his injuries, Foster was taken into police custody. He is now facing eight charges, including four counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and is scheduled to appear in court on December 10. None of the officers were reported injured during the incident.
