Orange County has been the scene of a significant arrest in the fight against human trafficking. Taishaman Adams Arrant, a 31-year-old convicted felon, has been taken into custody for allegedly trafficking a 17-year-old girl. The Anaheim Police Department, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, responded to reports on November 21 that a teen was being exploited for commercial sex, leading to the swift launch of an investigation, according to KTLA. Within hours, the authorities were able to locate and rescue the young girl, ensuring her safety.
The task force worked to indeed quickly locate the victim, underscoring their commitment to combating such crimes. Following the identification of Arrant as the suspect, he was found nearby and arrested. He was booked into the Anaheim Police Department’s Detention Facility, as KTLA reported. Specifics on the circumstances of the discovery have not been disclosed to the public.
Arrant is now facing charges related to the human trafficking of a minor, brought forth by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. With bail set at $350,000, he remains detained. This arrest brings attention to the ongoing issue of human exploitation and emphasizes the dedication of local law enforcement to addressing and preventing such egregious violations of individual rights.
The coordinated effort behind this investigation consists of several agencies, including the California Highway Patrol and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, all part of the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF). They work hand in hand not only to identify and rescue victims but also to prosecute offenders. The OCDA’s Human Exploitation And Trafficking (HEAT) Unit also plays a pivotal role, using a strategy dubbed PERP—Prosecution, Education, Resources, and Publicity—to tackle the issue. In the description provided by the City of Anaheim, these efforts collectively aim to directly challenge those who seek to profit from the trafficking and exploitation of others.
As part of the continued fight against human trafficking, authorities urge anyone with information on this case to contact the Anaheim Police at 714-765-1900. Additionally, the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline at 888-373-7888 is available for those who have been affected or know someone who has been a victim of human trafficking, the City of Anaheim stated.
