Following a detailed investigation that extended over several months, authorities in Oregon have actively dismantled a criminal enterprise, hitting several neighborhoods and spanning nine jurisdictions throughout the state. The Portland Police Bureau announced on November 25, that the Focused Intervention Team (FIT) executed search warrants at two locations on Friday, November 22, as a result of the comprehensive investigation into a series of felony crimes. The operation was supported by various specialized units, including the Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST), the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT), and others.

The crackdown led to the arrest of seven individuals, comprising three juveniles and four men, whose alleged offenses range from illegal gun possession to identity theft and property theft. During the warrant execution, officers managed to recover five firearms, a significant number of stolen credit cards and identity documents, as well as a Taser and a stolen vehicle. According to a report by the Portland Police Bureau, these items were seized as evidence, and the police believe there might be additional layers to uncover, possibly linking this group to further criminal cases.

The investigation has highlighted a pattern in the group's modus operandi that involved prowling vehicles in suburbs, searching for car keys, valuables, and credit cards. The suspects are alleged to quickly used the stolen credit cards to purchase Visa Gift cards in amounts ranging from $100 to $350 before the cards were flagged and transactions were declined, as per the Portland Police Bureau.

Authorities are now reaching out to the community, asking for any additional information about the group's activities or for those who suspect they might have been victimized to get in touch. Officer Amy Li is the point of contact, available at [email protected].
