
A fatal incident occurred in Fort Gratiot Township where an unidentified man was struck and killed by a pickup truck. The Detroit News reports that the event took place just before midnight on 24th Avenue near Cherryhill Drive.
Responding to the scene, deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office and medical personnel discovered the man on the roadway, where he was pronounced dead. CBS News Detroit mentioned that the victim was walking in the right travel lane of the road going north when the collision happened. The involved vehicle was a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, also heading north.
Investigators have disclosed that the driver of the Silverado, a 62-year-old man from Deckerville, has cooperated fully with authorities and remained at the crash site. As reported by MLive, excessive speed, alcohol, or drugs are not believed to be contributing factors in what led to the accident. The identification of the deceased is still pending.
Following the crash, the area was closed off to traffic as the investigation continued.
