Philadelphia's Department of Licenses and Inspections has rolled out an update to change the transparency landscape for property owners and residents alike. According to a recent announcement, full Notice of Violation (NOV) Reports are now readily available for download from both the L&I website and the Atlas portal. This new accessibility comes as a response to community feedback and is a move towards greater clarity on code enforcement actions.
Looking up a property's history and violations has just become easier. Interested parties need only navigate to Atlas, enter a property’s details, and click on the Violation ID found under the “Licenses and Inspections” tab. The full NOV Report is there in the Documents section, providing a comprehensive snapshot of any code infractions.
"We’ve received valuable feedback highlighting the importance of making this data publicly available, which benefits all stakeholders involved," the City of Philadelphia's website reported. The push for transparency isn't simply about putting information out there. It’s about keeping a dialogue open between the city government, property owners, and the wider community. This update signifies a shift towards mutual accountability and empowerment.
Aside from the broader community benefits, these full NOV Reports also serve a practical purpose for property owners and other responsible parties. Whether a notice sent through the mail was lost or simply overlooked, these documents are a backup ensuring nothing slips through the cracks. The website details this intent, stating, "The full report benefits responsible parties who may not have received or misplaced the original notice, ensuring they have full transparency into their properties’ status."
