Phoenix is set to gain a new high-end touch to its aviation offerings with a $50 million private jet "campus" developed by Sky Harbour Group Corp., a White Plains, New York-based company that's carving its niche in aviation infrastructure. Announced to open in January 2025, the hub at Deer Valley Airport will add exclusivity to the skies—featuring private-use jet hangars complete with the trimmings of offices and lounges, along with dedicated line crews and customized services for those who can afford the luxury, ABC15 reported.

The project, which is expected to cost between $48.3 million and $53.6 million, kicked off construction in December 2023 after securing a lease for over six acres of airport land from the City of Phoenix, which owns and operates Deer Valley Airport, the engagement aimed at adding significant economic value by providing approximately 200 high-quality jobs was highlighted by Sky Harbour’s CEO, Tal Keinan who remarked that “The Sky Harbour Campus is expected to drive significant economic development impact, including approximately 200 high-quality jobs,” a sentiment gleaned from a Phoenix Business Journal report.

The allure of the Deer Valley campus is boosted by its proximity to affluent communities such as Paradise Valley, North Scottsdale, and Silver Leaf, boasting advantages like the absence of commercial jet traffic and notably short taxi times, the venue has managed to release 75% of its eight hangars which span 134,270 square feet of leasable space, as per filings made public on November 12. A phase two is already on the drawing boards, promising to expand the haven for plush airborne vessels with six additional hangars and an existence within the upmarket airspace that seems perpetually hungry for exclusive fly-in fly-out options.

A peek into the future reveals that Sky Harbour isn’t just stopping in Phoenix; operations and development are underway in major cities across the country such as Chicago, Dallas, Denver, and several others. Phoenix is bracing for continued growth with a planned second phase of construction at the Deer Valley Airport anticipated to commence in the third quarter of 2025 and projected to cost between $34.6 million and $38.6 million.
