Early this morning, emergency crews responded to a hazardous accident involving a rollover of a single tanker truck south of Calistoga. CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit reported that the incident occurred near the 4500 block of Silverado Trail at around 5:21 a.m. According to the post, two individuals were required to help escape the vehicle. One suffered major injuries and was airlifted via Sonoma County Fire District helicopter SOCO1, while the other was transported to a medical facility by ground ambulance with moderate injuries.

CAL FIRE/Napa County Fire, Calistoga Fire, AMR, and CHP-Napa were intertwined in the response teams. The sanitation truck in question was said to have a roughly 60-gallon diesel tank that ruptured during the accident. With urgency and swift action, notifications were made to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services, and the Napa County, California - Government Environmental Health, ensuring proper protocols were followed for such incidents.

The spill prompted a dispatch of HAZMAT-27, a Napa Interagency Hazmat Team unit, who promptly attended the scene. Despite the rupture of the diesel tank, initial assessments have revealed that around 30 gallons of diesel and a mixture of soap and water leaked into a roadside ditch. This concoction did not reach the nearby creek.
