Elkridge residents, prepare for construction along Roosevelt Boulevard starting in early December. This is part of a Howard County initiative to improve pedestrian safety and connectivity in the area.
According to a Howard County announcement, the project, valued at $14.7 million in the Fiscal Year 2025 Capital Budget for sidewalks, bike lanes, and other infrastructure, aims to install a sidewalk on the east side of Roosevelt Boulevard from Cemetery Lane to Business Parkway. "Sidewalks create neighborhood connections and provide our residents safe and healthy transportation options," Howard County Executive Calvin Ball stated, highlighting the importance of such developments for the community.
This effort is a key component of the WalkHoward Pedestrian Master Plan, designed to enhance pedestrian access throughout the US 1 corridor. The construction does not just involve sidewalks; it also includes curb and gutter installation, minor drainage improvements, and adjustments to driveway entrances for added accessibility.
Motorists will notice changes during construction hours Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., as flaggers manage traffic with one eastbound lane closure.
