The Old Stagecoach Inn in Round Rock, Texas, has been restored, with a celebration held on October 19. The 170-year-old landmark was relocated to Chisholm Crossing Park in 2018 to accommodate road improvements. The project involved collaboration between the City of Round Rock and the local nonprofit Round Rock Preservation, ensuring the inn's preservation and revitalization after a period of dormancy.
The restoration project was funded through private donations and the City’s hotel occupancy tax, reflecting the community's dedication. The City of Round Rock and Round Rock Preservation worked together to complete the project. Mayor Craig Morgan led the celebration, which included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the unveiling of engraved bricks that contributed to the restoration. Shirley Marquardt, founder of Round Rock Preservation, and current President Judy Anderson acknowledged the donors and emphasized the importance of community involvement.
Phebe Davol, who lived at the Inn during her childhood, shared meaningful remarks, while volunteers from the Williamson Museum dressed in 1850s attire and Boy Scout Troop 365 assisted with tours. Parks and Recreation Director Rick Atkins and Planner Kerstin Harding discussed the significance of the restoration, and Evelyn Billington provided musical accompaniment, according to the City of Round Rock.
