San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department has reportedly continued its crackdown on retail theft with the ongoing "Operation Smash & Grab," leading to multiple arrests and the recovery of stolen goods. From October 26 through November 9, law enforcement officials including the Gangs/Narcotics Division, Homeland Security Investigations, and several other agencies, focused their efforts on San Bernardino County, particularly in shopping districts that have seen a considerable rise in thefts, according to the SBSD Headquarters.
The operation managed to directly address a concerning increase in violent crimes within retail stores, where perpetrators used intimidation and mob tactics to conduct robberies and burglaries. According to information released by the department, investigators have made significant progress with 10 felony arrests and 22 misdemeanor arrests, and have managed to successfully recover upwards of $9,500 in stolen property.
The recently published results of "Operation Smash & Grab" are indicative of strong inter-agency cooperation, harnessing both conventional and innovative investigative methods to dismantle the organized theft rings. The initiative has received strong support from local governance with the County's decision to allocate resources specifically for this cause.
