Last week, an intensive sting operation aptly named Operation Consequences conducted by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department resulted in a significant blow to local illegal firearms and narcotics trafficking. Between November 16 and November 22, law enforcement served search warrants at four locations known for gang activity and unlawful weapon possession, as reported by the SBSD Headquarters.
In touch with the communities' quest for peace, the week-long operation saw officers from the Gangs/Narcotics Division, backed by various other agencies, seize 36 firearms—23 being untraceable 'ghost guns'. Notorious for their benign appearance, over 24 pounds of the deadly opioid fentanyl were also discovered, as detailed by the SBSD Headquarters.
Serious efforts to suppress crime in the affected locations involved deploying personnel from different law enforcement divisions, including the Gangs/Narcotics Division and the Specialized Enforcement Division, with support from the California Highway Patrol and other federal agencies. This coordination reflects the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors' commitment, which has authorized funds explicitly for county-wide crime suppression initiatives.
As the week turned, the operation, which involved various agencies, including the United States Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force and Department of Homeland Security Investigations, culminated in 22 felony arrests. According to the official statement provided by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, the operation intends to "curb violent crime, disrupt and dismantle targeted criminal street gangs, and locate and arrest criminals who are illegally possessing, manufacturing, and trafficking firearms."
