A death investigation is underway in San Bernardino after a man, believed to be homeless, was found dead with apparent stab wounds and injuries from a dog attack. According to CBS News, the San Bernardino Police Department responded to a call for assistance on Sunday at approximately 5:20 p.m., arriving at Perris Hill Park on the 900 block of E. Highland Avenue whereupon they discovered the victim.

The man, living at a local encampment, was rushed to the hospital by paramedics but later pronounced dead, while, as detailed by ABC7, a total of 11 dogs were impounded by San Bernardino Animal Control. However, the investigation is ongoing to ascertain the exact cause of death, and the identity of the dogs' owner, believed to be homeless as well, remains to be found. The park is known to have several homeless encampments, complicating the search for witnesses according to San Bernardino police Capt. Nelson Carrington said, "There are several homeless encampments that are at Perris Hill Park, so there's lots of individuals that we're attempting to reach out to, to try to find as many witnesses to the incident as possible."

Investigators have appealed to the public for any information regarding the incident, asking individuals who might know more to come forward, KTLA reports that anyone with details surrounding the incident should contact San Bernardino Police Department Detective D. Martinez at (909-388-5619) or Sgt. E. Campos at (909-384-5613).
