Early Saturday morning, a hit-and-run incident in the College East neighborhood left two young women injured. According to the San Diego Police Department, the event occurred around 12:30 am on College Avenue, when both victims, a 20-year-old female and a 19-year-old female, were struck by what is described as a black or silver BMW. The vehicle fled the scene following the collision. The report, issued by Officer J. Perales, the watch commander on duty, outlines the tragedy that led to both individuals being hospitalized.
Victims of the incident sustained serious injuries, the 20-year-old woman suffered a fractured left arm and a lacerated lung that required surgery, and the 19-year-old woman incurred a lacerated liver, also necessitating surgery. Despite the gravity of their injuries, authorities have confirmed that they are not life-threatening. Alcohol was identified as a factor in the crash, adding another layer of complexity and concern to the night's events. The San Diego Police Department's Traffic Division is currently investigating the case.
