The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) is looking for a suspect who appears to be connected to several restaurant burglaries scattered across various city divisions. The suspect is described as a male of an indeterminable race, aged between 20 and 35, and seen in a red hooded sweatshirt, according to official reports. Most recently, two Tierrasanta businesses fell victim to a burglary on Santo Road at approximately 3:00 a.m. today, with the suspect brandishing a sledgehammer in the incidents.
Following a pattern of forced entry and theft, the suspect's actions have been linked to previous early morning break-ins, including those at Round Table Pizza and Tutuli Mexican Eatery last Tuesday and Tierrasanta Mexican Food earlier in the month, as stated by the Hoodline. A sledgehammer was used by the subject to smash through a front glass door at Round Table Pizza, although his attempt to open the safe there was unsuccessful.
Despite a failure at one location, the spree continued as he successfully looted cash from a safe at the neighboring Tutuli Mexican Eatery. Police have noted a striking similarity in the mode of operation across these events, prompting them to consider the probability of a single individual being responsible for the series of crimes.
SDPD is taking significant measures to apprehend the person or persons responsible for the burglaries that have spanned the city's Eastern, Northeastern, and Northwestern Divisions. They are compiling evidence, including video surveillance, and are actively encouraging public cooperation. Detective Sgt. Brian French with Eastern Division Investigations is heading the inquiry. Informants with relevant information can contact directly via email at [email protected] or provide tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477, as detailed in their official plea for assistance.
