The Seattle Management Association recently honored the Department of Finance and Administrative Services (FAS) with two awards. The Seattle Animal Shelter received the Community Service Award for launching the city’s first free pet vaccination clinics, while the team working to green Seattle’s municipal vehicle fleet earned the Environmental Stewardship Award, according to The Scoop.

These teams have not only shown their dedication to Seattle's animal companions, by administering vaccinations to over 1,200 pets, but they've also contributed to the city's fight against climate concerns with the Eco-minded overhaul of a public fleet which now includes 500 electric vehicles, as per The Scoop. The lauds don't just stop there, as both the Capital Development team and the Purchasing and Contracting division received nods for their efforts in modernization and championing contract equity.

Detailed in an announcement on The Scoop, the SMA awards ceremony at Seattle City Hall on Friday, Nov. 8 shone a spotlight on the individuals driving these initiatives. Among them, Dr. Haley Watlington and Dr. Cardin Kennedy of the Seattle Animal Shelter along with the likes of Daniel Holmberg and Mike Stroble from the Green Fleet Team were lauded for their contributions.

Additional recognitions highlighted by The Scoop include Dr. Cardin Kennedy's viral efforts on social media that exponentially increased visibility for the shelter's denizens and Presley Palmer's leadership in equity which spearheaded new WMBE training and Priority Hire legislation.
