Seattle Parks and Recreation is reaching out to the community for insight on the future of the Miller Playfield Play Area. An invitation is open for locals to join a meeting where they can meet the design team and share their visions. The gathering is set for December 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Miller Community Center, located at 330 19th Ave E, as per Seattle Parks and Recreation.
The upgrades are not taken lightly, with a comprehensive redo of the current play structures, improved accessibility, and the installation of synthetic turf for safer play experiences ahead. Specifically targeting children up to 12 years of age and making sure to inclusively cater to children of all abilities, the project aims to thoroughly transform the area. "Together we will create the best play area for the neighborhood," Seattle Parks and Recreation expressed commitment to a collaborative process.
In addition to the in-person forum, there is talk of a short online survey poised to go live post-meeting. This survey will serve to gather further community feedback and ensure a wider net of input is collected. The inclusive approach seeks to compile a rich tapestry of opinions and wishes that will influence the final design and serve the local residents best.
Those interested but unable to attend the meeting need not feel left out. The forthcoming survey will provide an opportunity for all with an interest to still be able to meaningfully participate from afar. This digital method will help to ensure that everyone gets a say and that those who cannot be there in person still can contribute significantly to the discussion.
As the date approaches, Seattle Parks and Recreation encourages the community to share their input on the Miller Playfield Play Area. Both in-person and online forums will ensure the updated play area meets the community's needs. Details about the upcoming survey will be available on the Seattle Parks and Recreation website and blog.
